- 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Weekend and holiday coverage will also be required on a rotation, from 7am-3:30pm and call.
About the Role As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in patient care by ensuring that every surgical instrument and piece of equipment is safe, sterile, and ready for use. Your work helps protect patients and empowers providers to deliver the highest quality care. What You'll Do
- Assemble and prepare instrument sets and trays for sterilization
- Inspect and test instruments for cleanliness, sharpness, and proper function
- Decontaminate, disinfect, and thoroughly clean medical supplies and equipment
- Distribute sterile instruments and equipment to clinical areas
- Monitor inventory and ensure adequate supply levels
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, performing minor repairs or reporting larger issues
- Reprocess and maintain endoscopes following all safety and manufacturer guidelines
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records
- Communicate effectively with clinical teams to support safe patient care
Qualifications Education
- None required (if other position qualifications are met)
Licensure/Certification
Experience
- No prior experience required
- UNC Medical Center or Rex Hospital only: Nine (9) months sterile processing experience required unless you've completed a sterile processing program
- Graduation from a sterile processing school may substitute for experience
Preferred
- Sterile processing experience is strongly preferred
