About the Job

Job Duties and Responsibilities

80% Research and Data Collection

  • Conduct and assist in functional MRI sessions with NHPs, including subject preparation and monitoring.
  • Perform neurophysiological recordings (electrophysiology) and contribute to data acquisition and preprocessing.
  • Run, and analyze behavioral experiments targeting decision-making, reward, and mood-related processes.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and carefully monitor subject health and behavior.
  • Perform histological analysis, including tissue processing and staining.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, manage datasets, and contribute to figure/table preparation for publications.

20% Laboratory Coordination and Maintenance

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, prepare solutions, and implement protocols.
  • Order and organize supplies; ensure compliance with laboratory safety and animal care standards.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating experimental sessions.
  • Contribute to preparation of manuscripts and grant applications by providing methods, results, and data summaries.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related biomedical science or combination of education and experience to equal 4 years.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy in data recording, and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of research experience in a neuroscience or psychology laboratory.
  • Experience with animal behavioral experiments and/or drug injections in animal models.
  • Familiarity with functional MRI (fMRI), electrophysiology, or histology methods.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22 - $25/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
