Position Summary

The Senior Electro/Mechanical Technicians primary role is to support project development by completing electrical and mechanical assembly work as required in support of various OTECH projects. The Senior Electro/Mechanical Technician will perform assembly, integration, factory testing, field installation, and testing/debugging of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment and systems. Project support primarily occurs at OTECH's Hanover MD location, but at times may require travel to field locations in the US and possibly abroad.


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Soldering and electrical assembly of complex design with little supervision.
  • Fiber optic termination and troubleshooting
  • Perform tasks requiring high levels of physical and mental coordination, ensuring precision and safety.
  • Subject matter expert in technical field.
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools.
  • Operate fork truck, overhead crane, and rigging.
  • Performs technical work tasks requiring advanced technical experience in mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly, and hydraulic testing and troubleshooting.
  • Hydraulic fabrication with proficient skills in tube bending, assembly, and testing and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical assembly associated with the assembly of J-boxes, electronics chassis, and electrical enclosures. Cable assemblies and oil filled PBOF.
  • Use oscilloscopes, electrical meters (DVM), electrical and optical time domain reflectometers (TDRs), high voltage meggers, logic and frequency analyzers, spectrum analyzers, fiber optic sources and power meters, and similar test equipment.
  • May serve as a mentor to entry level ETs and MTs. Is expected to be able to serve as the primary Technician on whatever project they are assigned to.
  • They should have advanced technical experience and is expected to perform the full range of expected ET and MT tasks with little supervision.
  • Assist as directed by Assembly Manager, or project-specific leads.
  • Some travel may be required. Up 10% of travel.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years formal electronics training.
  • Three to seven years of progressively responsible, on-scene experience fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Small valve maintenance, including high pressure air/liquid power and control equipment (pumps, valves, etc.).
  • Able to interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Skilled in soldering and electrical assembly.
  • Skilled in the use of hydraulic test sets, flow/pressure meters, and non-destructive testing.
  • Proficient in the use of common hand and power-driven tools including drills, grinders, drill presses, cut saws, etc.
  • Proficient in hydraulic tube bending, hydraulic system operation/repair/maintenance and troubleshooting. Some formal hydraulic system training preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of hydraulic test equipment.
  • Fork-lift, overhead crane, and rigging experience.
  • Electrical/electronic assembly/inspection and/or soldering certificate (IPC-WHMA-620, IPC JSTD, etc.) desired, or equivalent skill in lieu of certificate.
  • Experience with cable assembly/wire harness assembly.
  • Experience with PWB/PCB assembly including thru-hole and surface mount is considered a plus.
  • Experience with ORCAD, ACAD, and/or Altium (or similar electrical documentation package) is considered a plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting to the component level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipboard wiring and/or subsea systems (ROVs/AUVs) is preferred.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.
  • A current valid U.S. passport is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • The possibility to be able to attain / maintain a top-security clearance.

DESIRED :

  • Experience directly related to assembly, testing, and inspection of subsea equipment.

Base pay rate for this position is : $34.74 - $46.89/Hour.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered SHOP INDOOR/OUTDOOR which is characterized as follows:

  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally outside to support testing or installation.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment
  • When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise level could reach over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases including exposure to contaminants.
  • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.
  • Requires working indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions.
  • Shipboard work, in port and underway, periodically.
