A Brief Overview

The department of Neurosurgery and the D3b Center at CHOP is seeking creative independent problem solvers that are passionate about clinical research & biobanking operations and are excited to learn whatever is needed to empower our mission. Neurosurgery and the Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b: d3b.center) are looking for a Coordinator to support Neurosurgery protocols, specifically for the pediatric Epilepsy biobank. Our shared mission is to empower researchers to analyze biological, clinical, and genomic data, so that they may discover insights that lead to cures or dramatically improved treatment options.

As a Clinical Research Coordinator I, you will work with moderate supervision from the study PI and other research study team members on project activities. You will provide substantial coordination level support for all clinical & biospecimen research activities within the scope of the research protocols and by exercising discretion and judgement in execution of assigned tasks. Primary responsibilities include consenting, biospecimen collection and accessioning, subject and sample data entry, and protocol management. The impact of your work will be far-reaching and life-changing for every child, every time, everywhere.

What you will do

  • Core responsibilities

    * Adhere to an IRB approved protocol

    * Track biospecimens across platforms and performs biospecimen data entry

    * Accession biospecimens into a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) for integration into the D3b Biobank

    * Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental laboratory techniques and equipment, such as weighing tissue samples, evaluating specimens for deviations, handling biospecimens, and the storage of biospecimens

    * Perform routine quality control on biospecimen inventory and data in the LIMS, specimen associations to patients in platforms, biospecimen documentation, and other biospecimen tracking

    * Communicate with D3b study collaborators about biobanking operations at CHOP and at external institutions

    * Monitor supply levels at external sites and pathology departments and coordinate restocking operations with D3b's supply and shipping specialist

    * Coordinate transfers and shipments of specimens to and from the D3b Biobank

    * Assist with planning specific research protocols and workflow optimization

    * Provide required metrics for reports as needed

    * Ensure all standard operating procedures and workflows are current and updated as needed

    * Submit requests to the Biorepository Resource Center through iLab and coordinates execution of the requests

    Related responsibilities

    * Other biospecimen operational activities to support new research projects or initiatives as needed, including collaborating across units within the Center

    * Note: This is not a wet bench position but some work requires presence in a lab environment

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years of clinical or research related experience - Required
  • At least three (3) years of clinical or research related experience - Preferred
  • At least one (1) year of relevant reserach biospecimen experience - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of IRB and human subject protection
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels

SALARY RANGE:

$51,730.00 - $64,660.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
