Summary

As HID continues to grow, we are presented with significant Operational opportunities and risks. In partnership with our Business Areas, we can unlock efficiency potential, off-set overhead cost growth, and develop solutions to ensure effective compliance and risk management. A critical component of these growing dynamics is indirect spend. This global leadership role is responsible for HID Indirect Spend and effectiveness, across all Business Areas and corporate functions. This role will also collaborate extensively with stakeholders across other ASSA ABLOY divisions.

The Sr. Director of Indirect Spend will be a critical part of the Global Real Estate and Indirect Spend leadership team tasked with contributing heavily to HID's strategic objectives of Growth Through Customer Relevance, Innovation, and Cost Efficiency. The aim of this role is to provide optimal solutions adaptable to a growing and acquisitive company in an ever-evolving competitive environment. Key outcomes that define success in this role are:



  • Providing effective and cost efficient indirect spend management solutions for the business to enable employees to efficiently execute their roles while generating efficiencies through rational consolidation.
  • Enablement of a spend management system that aids in supplier management (performance and cost), consolidation (efficiency and standards), and compliance with business and market critical criteria.
  • Identifying, qualifying and implementing innovative procurement technologies and processes to enhance visibility, control, and efficiency in indirect spend management, ensuring adaptability to the company's growth and acquisition strategies.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Advises VP, Real Estate and Indirect Spend on Indirect Spend matters, effectively communicating on critical issues.
  • Leads HID's Indirect Spend group elevating HID's capabilities in category management, supplier relationship management, cost reduction initiatives, and sustainability enhancements, including driving enhanced value through third party relationships.
  • Represents HID and its interests in Indirect Spend with ASSA ABLOY and inter-divisional collaboration and communication.
  • Establish and lead forums across stakeholders of all levels to ensure aligned priorities, deliberate decisions, and effective communications to manage change, celebrate success, share lessons learned, and updates on challenges, actions, and status.


People Leadership





    • Enable and promote high performing teams and their work across HID and ASSA ABLOY
    • Develop pipeline of talent to ensure organizational continuity
    • Maintain strong employee engagement by implementing action plans as indicated by pulse surveys
    • Effectively lead teams through various organizational changes




Indirect Spend Responsibilities





    • Overall lead the Indirect Procurement team in terms of both organizational and commercial strategy as well talent development, be a thought leader.
    • Aspires to lead businesses to reduce indirect spend from ~11% of revenue to 8% of revenue by close of 2026.
    • Develop, collaboratively, and drive corporate Indirect Spend strategy, establishing spend efficiency through proven methods across indirect categories.
    • Integrate sustainability requirements (energy, water, CO2, social responsibility, and local requirements) into facilities roadmap.
    • Deliver on cost efficiency in indirect spend initiatives through BA and functional collaboration.
    • Enablement of tools and process in collaboration with HR, Finance, and Legal that meet evolving business needs in a pragmatic and prioritized manner.
    • Enable compliant and cost-efficient travel program to drive desired travel behaviors and spend.
    • Collaborate with functional and business stakeholders (IT, Marketing, Biz development, Legal, Finance, HR, and Business area functional leaders) to deploy and leverage a category management approach to ensure effective supplier management and category management outcomes (on-boarding, performance management, purchasing compliance, risk assessment, and cost efficiency).

  • Demonstrated leadership with capacity to manage global, cross-functional, and external interactions.
  • Experience in managing large indirect spend and global teams
  • Strong familiarity with and competence in corporate functions (Finance, Legal, HR, Engineering, Marketing, and Business Development.)
  • Demonstrated decision making skills coupled with good judgement.
  • Ability to influence and persuade at all levels of the organization, both verbally and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Knowledge and experience with financial systems and financial data.
  • Strong analytical skills, organization skills, ability to read and manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of company associates and suppliers.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong ability to advocate and mentor team members and other HID employees.


Education and/or Experience



  • 15+ years experience in operations, or indirect category management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering or Supply Chain (MBA preferred)
  • Global experience


Language Skills



  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.


Computer Skills



  • Oracle ERP
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.

Work Environment

  • Employee works primarily in a home office environment.
  • The home office must be a well-defined work area, separate from normal domestic activity and complete with all essential technology including, but not limited to; separate phone, scanner, printer, computer, etc. as required in order to effectively perform their duties.


Work Requirements



  • Compliance with all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork, including international travel, may be required. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire a valid passport.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which you are hired.
