Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the APA Foundation, the Manager, Governance and Operations helps to drive the success of executing APAF's mission and implementation of the strategic plan, in collaboration with APA/APAF leadership, and through stewardship of the APAF Board of Directors. The manager also oversees Foundation daily operations and presence at internal and external convenings/events and supports budget management and analysis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

APAF Governance and APA Foundation Board of Directors





    • Serve as the staff liaison to the APAF Board of Directions and its subcommittees with communication and coordination of activities.
    • Oversee the collection, completion, and assembly of agendas, materials and minutes for APAF Board Meetings, APAF Subcommittees and other APAF Board related events. Create and maintain procedural structure to ensure that all deadlines are met while also coordinating cross-functionally with presenters and participants.
    • Manage events and logistics for APAF Board-related events including schedule, venues, meals, travel accommodations, travel reimbursements, A/V and video conferences capability. Works closely with APA Meeting and Facility Departments.
    • Serve as the point of contact in the collection and development of APAF presentations and reports for APA Governance Meetings. Work closely with Managing Director and Executive Director to ensure all requests are met.





Foundation Operations





    • Facilitate the implementation of APAF's strategic plan, objectives, policies, operating procedures, standards, and guidelines.
    • Track department level strategic plan metrics and maintain reporting dashboard.
    • Manage reports across APA and APAF, in consultation with Executive Director and Managing Director.
    • Work with Managing Director on budgeting, financial tracking and management of APAF's $14M+ budget.
    • Work with Managing Director on ensuring grant compliance and tracking grant deliverables.
    • Assist with processing of State Charitable Registrations
    • Operations support to APAF Business Development including supporting exhibit and planning for meetings, annual benefit, donor meeting
    • Manage the Chester Pierce Humanitarian Award, O'Leary Award for Innovation in Psychiatry, and Awards for Advancing Minority Mental Health-promotion, nominee review and selection, facilitate awardee attendance at APA annual meeting and publicize awardees in media channels.
    • Support, as needed, to APAF campaigns, programs and key initiatives including Mental Health Care Works campaign, SMI Resource Center, Schools, Center for Workplace Mental Health, Justice, Faith-based, Play initiatives, Fellowships, , and Library and Archives.


  • Amplify the programmatic work of the APA Foundation. Pursue opportunities for public recognition of the APAF work and impact.

    • Liaison for APA/APA Foundation's partnership with local charities and schools.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • BA/BS preferred with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong project and program management skills
  • Board governance experience preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management within organizations with multiple sources of funding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro
  • Salesforce experience, a plus
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize, multitask and take initiative
  • Possess strong attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy with the ability to work with all levels of management
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet multiple deadlines and troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends when APAF events are scheduled
