Position Purpose
The Senior Business Development Officer (SBDO) is responsible for increasing core deposits, loan opportunities, and the expansion of relationships within a defined community, geographic market, or business vertical. The SBDO works within the market to create new relationships and leverage existing relationships in order to increase sales of core banking products and services.


Position Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development of new business and the retention of profitable business through proactive sales effort.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding established sales and service goals.
  • Ensures full range of services (including deposits, credit, and referrals to other lines of business) are being actively provided to all customers and prospective customers.
  • Works with the Marketing Department in the development and delivery of seminars and conferences to prospective customers and other external or internal referral sources.
  • Participates in community activities throughout the year to enhance the Bank's brand image and develop new business leads.
  • Performs work functions in compliance with Bank policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and takes ongoing training courses as required by the Bank's Compliance Officer.
  • Is proactive and creative in solving complex customer issues.
  • Has expert knowledge of the banks products and services, and is able to articulate the benefits of all products and services to customers and prospective customers.
  • Works with management to help develop and shape future product/service offerings.
  • Provides the Commercial Lending team with referrals.
  • Obtain profitable new deposit and loan relationships and refer those to relationship managers and business bankers on the team.
  • Work with COIs and other known financial services professionals to garner referrals and create brand awareness and market penetration within a defined market.
  • Contribute to the Bank's CRA Lending goals via new loan relationship referrals in the market of focus.
  • Advise and guide Capital Bank on effective community support, scholarships, financial literacy and charitable contributions working closely with our CRA officer
  • Introduce and directly refer and sell (non-broker) new customer deposit relationships working with our Chief Deposit Officer and Treasury Management Officer
  • Work with our Director of Treasury Management to uncover Treasury Services and Fee Income opportunities
  • Introduce and refer non-broker borrowing relationships for all loan verticals, including, but not limited to CRE, SBA and C&I.


    Minimum Education & Experience



    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
    • Solid and proven sales and service record
    • 10+ years of business development experience in a retail or commercial banking environment.


    Technical Knowledge and Skills



    • Ability to provide sales and customer service results
    • Strong knowledge of banking policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Microsoft office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Has expert level of knowledge on the following systems: Integrated Teller, Expedite, E-Corp and E-Commerce, RDM, Lockbox, Cash Management Products.



    Working Arrangements



    • This is a 100% remote role.
    • You must have the ability to travel within the local market area as needed.



    Compensation:



    • Base Salary Range: Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, geographic location, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
    • Additional Compensation: This role will participate in a lucrative incentive plan with payout based on your ability to meet assigned goals.
