The Rental Assistance Specialist works on a team managed by a Rental Assistance Team Lead. The Rental Assistance Specialist acts as a liaison between the tenant (applicant) and the property owner (landlord). The Rental Assistance Specialist reviews the tenant application including documentation and property owner information for accuracy. They are also responsible for communicating with the tenant and property owner as necessary, responsible for entering case notes, communicating with their Lead and submitting an accurate application packet for review.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Review tenant and landlord application packet and communicate with both or either party to ensure a completed application.
  • Assess each document for validity and if necessary, contact both or either party for updates.
  • Flag applications with invalid documents and inform Lead staff.
  • Advocate for clients and make direct referrals to the Special Services Case Manager as needed.
  • Maintain accurate case notes in the application portal.
  • Submit complete, accurate application packets to Rental Assistance Team Leads for approval and payment processing.
  • Uphold the values of CTI - Equity, Integrity, Compassion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years experience working with low income diverse populations required.
  • Knowledge and experience working with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources available to low-income individuals and families.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.
  • Excellent crisis management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Khmer, English/Portuguese) preferred.
