RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking applications for a full-timeAssistant Professoron theresearch track. This is anon-tenure trackposition, with the appointment contingent upon available funding.

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated scientist to lead basic and translational research projects focused on advancing the understanding ofthrombosis, vascular biology, and stroke.

The successful candidate will be expected to initiate new research proposals for both intramural and extramural funding opportunities, serve as a principal investigator and co-investigator, and contribute to ongoing funded research programs within the division. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Salary is commensurate to experience.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

• A PhD or equivalent degree in a biomedical science-related field.

• A minimum of five years of postdoctoral training in basic and/or translational research.
• Demonstrated expertise in:
  
  
  
  
  
  • Platelet and leukocyte biology
  • Thrombosis and Hemostasis in vivo assays
  • Microscopy including intravital
  • Experimental models of stroke (filament and embolic) with long-term functional outcome.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Experience in supervising laboratory and/or research personnel.
• A strong publication record with evidence of first-author and corresponding-author roles.
• Prior success in securing research funding at the postdoctoral or junior faculty level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
