We are seeking applicants for a Nurse Coordinator in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.
The Nurse Coordinator develops and implements occupational health strategies, policies and programs under the direction of the EHS and Human Resource Managers. Programs include First Aid and other medical surveillance, Occupational Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens/HazMat, CPR/FA/AED Training, Return-to-work including leaves and disability management, Worker's Compensation, and additional health and safety education, training and administration.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Provide emergency health, first aid and case management services and support within scope of practice and in collaboration with consulting licensed healthcare providers.
- Facilitate medical surveillance programs and responsibilities (Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, HazMat, Infection Prevention).
- Develop/recommend, implement and evaluate programs and education to promote employee health and wellness, disease screening and prevention.
- Conduct and/or coordinate CPR/AED/First Aid Training for site employees and maintain all first aid/trauma supplies and site AEDs.
- Serve as point of contact/site representative for Employee Assistance Program, ADA/FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and other Health Benefits programs.
- Conduct and/or coordinate all workplace drug and alcohol testing including pre-hire testing, reasonable suspicion and random testing and DOT/FRA required testing.
- Participate in New Employee Orientation related to Health, Safety and Human Resource policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain recordkeeping for all Health Services documents in accordance with applicable regulations including OSHA and PCA records retention policies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have a current valid driver's license
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field
- COHC (CAOHC Approved) & NIOSH Spirometry Certified
- Emergency Care (CPR/First Aid/AED) Instructor certified
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse - Specialist/CM Certification (ABOHN)
- Occupational Health experience including experience in Worker's Compensation, OSHA, or industrial health/manufacturing
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required
- Must have the ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Ability to obtain occupational health related certifications (Emergency Care Instructor, Occupational Hearing Conservationist, Case Management)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed and available by phone during off-site hours
- Must have the ability to set high personal standards of time management, performance and goals, while working under minimal supervision
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on relative topics such as Occupational Health and Medicine, Nursing Practice, Labor and Industry regulations as appropriate
- Strong computer skills required including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
