Job Summary

The Data Science Advisor is responsible for providing strategic guidance and directions for the organization's data science initiatives. This role collaborates with senior leadership and other business and clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage data, drive innovation, and ensure alignment of data science projects with organizational objectives. The Data Science Advisor is a thought leader for Data Science at the organization and plays a key role in shaping data-driven strategies. A key distinction of a Data Science Advisor, when compared to advisors in other areas of the organization, is that the Data Science Advisor is a position that is designed to both lead and directly contribute to data science projects and solutions, in addition to their strategic responsibilities.

This position provides strategic guidance and direction for data science initiatives, identifying opportunities for innovation, improvement and business growth, advising on the development of new methodologies, techniques, and best practices. In addition, the position influences decision-making at the senior leadership level, collaborating with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives, supporting development and growth of data science teams and organizational data science capabilities.

Essential Functions
  • Seeks appropriate data sources and ensures data quality for projects and identifies new data sources to improve existing projects.

  • Develops advanced descriptive, inferential, and predictive models, and enhances and fine tunes existing models.

  • Analyzes and interprets data sets across various domains, including exploratory data analysis advanced statistical analyses, and predictive analytics.

  • Creates data visualizations and uses storytelling methods to present model results, findings, and recommendations to senior company leadership or at industry conferences.

  • Contributes to initiatives that develop and advance both data science competency and maturity across the organization.

  • Oversees and advises on the design and development of large-scale solutions to solve complex business problems

  • Guides organizational strategic decisions related to data science.

  • Pursues opportunities to grow their business acumen and skills from more experienced team members. Provide support and recommendations to less experienced team members to enhance their technical skills

  • Adheres to the team's application of best practices and organizational standards of the Software Development Lifecycle and machine learning operations to ensure reproducibility of findings and effective model deployment

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field.

  • 12 years of relevant experience in health care, data science, statistics, or a related field.

Preferred

  • PhD Doctorate in a quantitative discipline, such as mathematics, computer science, statistics, physics, econometrics, or a related discipline.
