Job Purpose

The Production Maintenance manager receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. The production maintenance manager establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organizations. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals result in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. Frequently interacts with senior management, supervisors and peer group managers where interactions normally involve matters between functional areas. Manages through subordinate supervisors the coordination of activities of the maintenance department with the responsibility of results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of Production maintenance, Dispatch, and the Metrology lab.
  • Monitor and approve all departmental expenditures.
  • Develop and implement predictive and total productive maintenance (TPM) practices.
  • Plan and schedule equipment maintenance to optimize uptime.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction programs in the areas of equipment repairs, operational parts use, and MRO inventories.
  • Coordinate modifications, fabrications, process changes and training issues with Manufacturing Engineering and Production.
  • Administer and maintain Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for P.M. scheduling, task development, parts ordering, historical data, trend analysis, and labor usage.
  • Responsible for the training and development of human resources, administration of plant policies and procedures, and other activities necessary in achieving plant and department goals.
  • Monitor and maintain the safety, health, and environmental programs in the area.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise Maintenance Lead Technicians, Maintenance Electronic Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Trainees, Maintenance Dispatcher and Metrology Technicians.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related technical and maintenance field.

Language Skills: English with College level written and verbal skills

Mathematical Skills:Basic math skills

Reasoning Ability: Root cause and problem solving abilities

Computer Skills: Basic skills to include proficient use of a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Office suite.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

Other Skills and Abilities: Blue print reading, Knowledge of electricity, electronics, controls, PLC's, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plant engineering

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Infrequent travel required to training courses and industrial shows.

Physical Activity:

Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary movement.
