Operational Psychologist

This position requires an active Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a U.S. Citizen.

The Operational Psychologist will support U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) by delivering psychological expertise in the areas of personnel assessment, operational support, and human performance optimization. This non-clinical role is mission-critical in enhancing selection standards, improving organizational effectiveness, and increasing the psychological readiness of elite military personnel and units.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Operational Psychologist: $
Pay commensurate with experience.

Operational Psychologist Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct and interpret a full range of psychological assessments and consult with unit leadership on selection, suitability, and personnel readiness.
  • Support assessment and selection programs for specialized military positions, including initial evaluations, feedback, and recordkeeping.
  • Provide expertise in operational psychology, behavioral research, human performance, and industrial/organizational psychology.
  • Deliver briefings, awareness training, and professional development workshops for INSCOM personnel and command leadership.
  • Participate in and support non-clinical mental resiliency, performance enhancement programs, and psychological readiness initiatives.
  • Respond to serious incidents with crisis follow-up services and non-clinical psychological support.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, program validation efforts, and organizational effectiveness assessments.
  • Maintain proper credentialing and privileges for conducting assessments within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Ensure all deliverables meet organizational and professional psychological standards under the guidance of senior command psychologists.

Operational Psychologist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested:

Education:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from an APA-accredited college or university in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Completed an APA-accredited internship (or equivalent accepted by the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General).

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (must be current and maintained).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years post-doctoral experience within the past 10 years practicing independently in psychology.
  • Strong preference for experience in personnel selection and operational psychology, particularly in Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) settings.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mastery in administering and interpreting psychological assessments (e.g., cognitive, personality, aptitude).
  • Deep understanding of personnel selection, non-clinical intervention, behavioral health readiness, and human performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with the literature on industrial/organizational psychology, performance training, and leadership development.
  • Capable of advising senior leadership and command on mental readiness, performance risks, and selection criteria.

Abilities:

  • Able to work independently and as part of a specialized multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of discretion, emotional intelligence, and professional judgment in sensitive environments.
  • Excellent communication skills to brief high-ranking military and civilian leaders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and government data systems for documentation and reporting.
