Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) This position requires an active Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret/SCI. As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a U.S. Citizen. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) will provide high-quality psychiatric and mental health services in support of military personnel and their families. Working in military treatment facilities or operational environments, the PNP will conduct evaluations, establish psychiatric diagnoses, and deliver therapy and medication management. This role requires autonomy, professionalism, and a deep understanding of military culture to help maintain mission readiness and improve the psychological well-being of service members. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities Include:
- Practice within the scope of state licensure, American Psychological Association ethical guidelines, and MTF clinical privileges.
- Comply with Army OTSG/MEDCOM, DHA, and Combatant Command Force Health Protection policies.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations based on clinical interviews and collateral sources.
- Establish psychiatric diagnoses in accordance with the DSM.
- Deliver psychiatric care, including psychotherapy and pharmacological treatment, to individuals and groups.
- Provide therapeutic support for medical and surgical patients managing mental health concerns due to illness or injury.
- Participate in critical incident response and behavioral intervention planning.
- Support case management efforts and provide consultation to medical and command leadership.
- Prepare and deliver formal presentations and briefings to military leadership across all echelons.
- Contribute to deployment readiness assessments and post-deployment health support.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested: Education:
- Master's Degree in Nursing from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited school.
Certifications & Licensure:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) in a U.S. state or territory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (must be current and maintained).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years post-licensure clinical experience in psychiatric practice.
- Preferred: Experience in government settings such as the Department of Defense (DoD) or Veterans Affairs (VA).
- Clinical peer review experience within the last 2 years.
- Background in:
- Behavioral interventions
- Crisis counseling and incident response
- Public speaking and formal briefings
- Psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to practice independently without mandated supervision.
- Deep understanding of professional standards, ethics, and clinical documentation.
- Experience with crisis debriefing, trauma-focused care, and military family dynamics.
- Competent in briefing high-level military and civilian leadership.
- Familiarity with military life and operations is highly desirable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across diverse groups.
- Proven collaboration in multidisciplinary and high-stakes environments.
- Displays maturity, professionalism, and sound judgment in all interactions.
- Adaptable to dynamic, high-tempo mission settings.
