Summary:

Under
supervision and following established policies and procedures, conducts clinical
research involving human subjects. Collects data, including EEG and MRI. With
supervision, analyzes data using statistical methodology.  Reviews literature in the field for
informational purposes or to gather data.

Responsibilities:

The
focus of the lab is understanding risk for and resilience to cognitive decline
in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. The Research
Assistant will assist with multiple clinical research projects.
Responsibilities include:

- Assists in recruitment of new study participants

- Assists with acquisition and analysis of electroencephalography (EEG)
and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data

- Administers neuropsychological tests to study participants, per study
protocol

- Establishes and maintains study records for participants

- Reviews literature pertaining to research being conducted in the
scientific area of interest for information in order to better understand the
research conducted and to gather data. 

- Gathers, tabulates, graphs, develops explanatory charts and analyzes
data using statistical methodology.  May
use computer programming to assist in data analysis.

- Performs administrative tasks, including expense reimbursement and institutional
review board (IRB) management

- May review medical records to abstract information necessary to
complete study forms

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Completion of a bachelor's degree in the scientific field off the research being conducted, including psychology, neuroscience, or a related area

Requires a working knowledge of statistics, computer programming and research methodology.

Requires a professional level of knowledge of the scientific field germane to the research being conducted.

Requires strong interpersonal skills.

Requires proficiency with Office 365. Proficiency with MATLAB, R, and/or SPSS preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three to six months related experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Works in a laboratory environment with possible exposure to human serum. Hazards are minimized with adherence to established safety protocols.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Performs independently with the department's policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures is required.
