DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will demonstrate your expertise in operating tractor-trailers and various trucks while supervising inmates during the loading and unloading of freight. You will be responsible for instructing inmates on proper truck operation and ensuring their custody, discipline, and security throughout work hours. Additionally, you will guide inmates in performing minor maintenance on equipment, manage freight handling, maintain records, and oversee materials storage typical of a large distribution center. You will receive general instructions for scheduled deliveries and will work independently to accomplish these tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
  • A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License. with Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
