DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Serving in the role of Professional Engineer, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities that require a unique combination of engineering, operational, and regulatory expertise. This position is crucial in managing utility systems and addressing environment issues within the department. While you may not have direct supervisory responsibilities, you may be called upon to intervene in rare situations to ensure a safe and secure environment. Additionally, this position is vital to the department's Continuity of Government Relocation Team, which is responsible for maintaining essential functions in the event of an emergency. You will work closely with the relocation team to ensure a smooth transition and continued efficiency in operations.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week upon successful completion of the 6 month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years as an Environmental Engineer or an Air Quality Engineer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or in environmental project development, design and/or construction.
Special Requirement:
- You must be in possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
