The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill), and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers for the fabrication of metallic and nonmetallic parts. This role ensures adherence to high-quality machining standards and supports production excellence across the organization.

As a Machinist, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill), and NC horizontal small lathes
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances
  • Determining sequence of operations and setup requirements
  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
  • Adjusting machine controls as required to maintain quality standards
  • Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
  • Applying basic concepts of algebra and geometry to machining tasks
  • Calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut
  • Entering commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media

To be successful in this role you will:

Required Qualifications
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Have 1+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired Characteristics
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Possess working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Possess the ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
  • Possess the ability to calculate and set machining controls accurately
  • Have experience with computerized machine control systems
