Transportation Construction Inspector

As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for the inspection of workmanship and materials on highway construction and bridge projects and the inspection of materials produced at asphalt, concrete, and aggregate plants to ensure materials are in accordance with specifications, contract documents, and approved quality control plans. Material inspector assignments entail verifying accuracy of all test procedures in following Pennsylvania Test Method (PTM) methods and applicable American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) standards and the accuracy of laboratory reports. You will observe the shipment process to ensure that the quality of materials delivered meets specifications with accurate weigh slips representing quantities shipped.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
