Primary Duties

1. Leads a team and program that elevates all aspects of safety and reduces risks associated with well drilling and workover activities to protect employees, the public, property, and the environment.

2. Directs development of work instructions and specifications as necessary to perform various reservoir tests and inspections.

3. Participates in regulatory and legal proceedings related to gas storage facilities, and recommends capital and maintenance expenditures to maintain or enhance the performance of gas storage facilities.

4. Coordinates the development and preparations of filings within mandated time-frames for regulatory required well / cavern testing including casing integrity tests and mechanical integrity tests.

5. Prepares and files routine regulatory reporting of storage activities as needed (weekly, monthly and annually).

6. Ensures that storage and disposal wells, caverns and other gas storages are operated in compliance with current permits, orders, rules and regulations applicable to the reservoir aspects of storage operations. To include the Storage Integrity Management Program (SIMP) and the PIPES Act.

7. Serves as an expert witness to promote the company's position in regulatory or legal proceedings.

8. Monitors on-going storage performance to identify trends relative to actual versus predicted performance.

9. Maintains and updates, as warranted, individual storage performance curves (inventory v. withdrawal).

10. Prepares storage withdrawal schedules for storage customers based on class of service and contracted working gas quantities.

11. Consults with Gas Supply, field operations and Gas Control personnel in planning programs to achieve, optimize or enhance storage performance.

12. Identifies and recommends capital and O&M expenditures related to storages in order to maintain or enhance performance.

13. Develops and monitors functional area budgets to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Plans and directs the achievement of area goals and objectives within established Company policies.

14. Maintains adequate staffing levels to ensure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, motivates and evaluates the performance of assigned employees.

15. Develops employees in all aspects of reservoir management and petroleum engineering including well drilling, workovers and optimization of storage fields.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level
Requires Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology or closely related field and seven years experience in natural gas industry engineering with the last three years serving in a reservoir engineering capacity.

Requires valid driver's license.

Communication Skills
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical concepts to individuals with experience or knowledge of the technical area.

Numeric Skills
Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric and geometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods.

Computer Skills
Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications to create complex documents, reports and graphics.

Work Conditions
Works in an office environment, occasionally outdoors. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
