JOB DESCRIPTION: The Process Accountant reports to the Operations Controller and is responsible for various operations-related accounting activities as assigned by management. This position must be able to perform a broad range of accounting activities and be able to analyze large data files in order to make decisions and/or recommendations to manufacturing operations, presentations and/or reports, and to apply GAAP principles in general accounting activities as well as perform financial analysis on accounting data. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans, collects, and analyzes data such as raw material purchases, labor and overhead to determine costs of business activities Analyzes changes in product design, such as raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs; identifying drivers of variances Works closely with MFG & Operation managers from multiple plants/departments to provide support and guidance as it relates to inventories, costing and financial analysis Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures Prepares estimates for new and proposed product costs, including special orders Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services Maintains cost accounting system and its integrity in multiple databases, including BOM's and standard costs; updates cost as appropriate Generates inventory based on FIFO calculations and determine its financial impact Calculates ROI for proposed projects and update actual performance Supports the MOS (Management Operating System) through the generation of data and/or through the review of MFG results. Provides financial leadership for the department and makes recommendations to improve profitability Embraces working in a fast-paced plant environment, and at the same time independently managing multiple priorities Performs the month-end close of the General Ledger Reconciles inventories Conducts physical inventories and monitors the cycle count program Establishes individual goals and action plans to improve his/her job function and that of the operating department they are assigned Complete various journal entries at month end, including accruals for subsequent cycle counts, corrections or adjustments to any operational type expense, true-up or true-down inventory, and others as needed. Perform account reconciliations on various general ledger accounts such as material usage variance, scrap expense, and other manufacturing expense accounts as needed. Train, support, and back up other cost accounting team members on essential tasks. Participate in process improvement. Assist in any accounting system upgrade or improvement Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual and dependable, to meet the needs of the department and the organization. Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform the job successfully. Follows all safety procedures required in the work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions. Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receiving and giving feedback, and treats everyone with respect. Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects. Follow all department quality standards/criteria. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with other functions as needed in the accounting department. Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.

BA/BS from an accredited University or College or equivalent job experience in a manufacturing environment. Advanced level in Excel spreadsheets and other MS applications Experience working with business enterprise packages Advanced analytical skills Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines Ability to work with algebraic and geometry concepts and apply them to business cases, i.e., inventory turns, inventory accuracy, and computations, etc. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to business practical situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 Years of accounting background with emphasis in manufacturing, including a strong cost system background and analytical skills. Major in accounting or business administration in College Knowledge of computer databases and relational databases Power BI reporting or consumer experience, any other business intelligence knowledge, or reporting tool knowledge.
