JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Global seeks a part-time content creation/social media correspondent intern to join our Penn State Global/Education Abroad team and help create innovative and engaging content that aligns with division and University goals.

This position requires candidates to be current Penn State students at University Park campus and will require 10-15 hours per week at $12 per hour.

The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Create innovative and engaging content for Instagram and YouTube that highlights the exciting and educational nature of study abroad. Other platforms may be utilized with supervisor approval and direction.
  • Participate in brainstorming new content ideas.
  • Research emerging content trends in the social and digital media space that can be leveraged by our social channels.
  • Seek out students, alumni, faculty, staff, colleges, departments, labs, orgs and groups who could be potential content collaborators or content subjects.
  • Assist with analyzing content metrics to inform future projects.
  • Attend campus events to take photos, videos, perform interviews, and create content, as needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be organized, creative, and self-motivated.
  • Be able to work individually as well as collaboratively.
  • Have experience and skills using various social media and/or digital platforms.
  • Be comfortable "in front of the camera" for any content that requires a facilitator, interviewer, etc. (for example, sidewalk interviews with fellow students)
  • Have a passion for creating content that is on trend as well as unique.
  • Have experience with video (phone-created content counts), photography, audio, and/or animation.
  • Understand the current social media landscape.
  • Be committed to upholding Penn State's values and brand identity via social media posts and online content.

Schedule:

Anticipated 10-15 hours per week at University Park campus. With advanced notice, may be asked to attend events outside of standard schedule to take photos/video/create content.

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $12/hour.
