We are looking for software engineers to work on an extremely exciting project new to Optum. If you would like to participate in a green-field, AWS-based set of applications using microservice and serverless technology, this is the team for you. We will be building a strong, close-knit team that will work in a DevOps environment and will contain both strong API and UI components.

AWS experience is preferred, of course, but not necessary. We have a high success rate in teaching AWS as well as other technologies. The main requirement for this position is a strong sense of curiosity, the desire to learn and the ability to work well in a team. We have a strong mentoring atmosphere and work in an agile environment with a high degree of cooperation. Primary Responsibilities:



  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)
  • Depth of proficiencies in more than one product areas and often regarded as the SME
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise
  • Able to recognize strengths and limitations of team members and adapt to leverage and mentor
  • Able to assume the role of technical lead on projects by evaluating design and support implementation and collaborating with function groups on work to be delivered
  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Estimate and plan for complex project level assignments even with some not flushed out requirements, able to significantly contribute to the scalability of a product in terms of performance, supportability, optimized costs
  • Capable of sharing knowledge with external teams via tech talks, able to consistently deliver on critical tasks on any given project through proven consistency of established DevOps practices
  • Lead a team in modular design, implementation, and testing
  • Propose low-level design for task and story level assignments as well as high level design for epic-level assignments
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions using no-code, low-code, and advanced platforms, translating business needs into scalable applications that enhance products, workflows and decision-making

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree or 8+ years of equivalent experience (i.e. Development during that time in one or more enterprise languages is required)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • AWS Developer or Architect certifications
  • SAFe/Agile methodologies experience
  • Github experience
  • X12/HIPAA experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
