SALARY:

$68,000 - $83,000 per year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Livestock Management: Oversee the boarding, care, and health of horses, cattle, and sheep, ensuring their welfare aligns with veterinary best practices. Monitor nutrition, housing, and medical needs in collaboration with faculty veterinarians.
  • Horse Training: Develop and implement training programs for horses, focusing on behavior and handling to prepare them for veterinary student interaction and community demonstrations.
  • Event Coordination: Plan and execute ranch-related events, including workshops, open houses, and outreach programs for the College of Veterinary Medicine and local community. Manage logistics, scheduling, and promotion to ensure high engagement and educational impact.
  • Student Instruction: Teach veterinary students the ins and outs of ranch facilities and equipment. Deliver hands-on training in equine handling, livestock husbandry, and lab logistics, fostering practical skills and safety awareness.
  • Facility Coordination: Identify facility and grounds maintenance and improvement needs across Ranch operations. Coordinate with the RVU Facilities Team to ensure timely repairs, upgrades, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the ranch's annual budget, including expenses for livestock care, equipment maintenance, event costs, and staff salaries. Track expenditures, optimize resource allocation, and provide financial reports to college administration
  • Staff Management: Supervise and mentor ranch staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling. Foster a collaborative team environment, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with college policies and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with faculty to support research, labs, and curriculum needs. Provide input on animal-related protocols and assist in integrating ranch operations into academic programs
