Job Details:

Essential Job Functions

* Build draw, transfer, and progressive dies for the metal stamping industry

* Set up and operate machines such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.

* Build welding, inspection, and assembly fixtures per design

* Ability to read prints and complicated schematics in order to manufacture new tooling fixtures and machine parts.

* Assist with die maintenance.

* Responsible for performing test runs on all tools to ensure they function properly and that the finished parts are to meet print specifications

* Must be able to analyze 3D designs and models to be manufactured.

* Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.

* Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.

* Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.

* Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.

* Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.

* Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.

* Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.

* Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.

* Look for and make suggestions on areas to improve efficiencies within the company

* Occasionally assist with press set-up, or other tooling support as needed

* Other duties as assigned by Supervisors or Managers

Experience

* Experience working as a tool and die maker.

* In-depth knowledge of machine tools and their uses.

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics.

* Extensive experience with metalworking tools including drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.

* Ability to lift heavy objects and operate large machinery.

* Experience with quality control analysis.

* Excellent attention to detail.

* Advanced troubleshooting skills.

* Experience working with Prints and GD&T knowledge

* Ability to hold close tolerance + or - .001

Basic Qualifications

* Two-year associate degree in machine tool technology, or Journeyman card, or completed apprenticeship

* 2-3 Years of experience building metal stamping dies

* Strong blueprint reading and QC skills

* Experience with tool room machinery

* Ability to work independently or as a team to accomplish goals

* Ability to troubleshoot and suggest solutions to problems

* Must be able to work overtime as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* 5+ years building metal stamping dies

* Set up and operate Wire EDM Machines

* Set up and operate CNC mills

Physical Demands

* Ability to lift up to 40 LBS, lift twist, grab, stand (up to 8 to 10 hours), walk, push, pull, use both

hands to lift and lower materials, and perform all other essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
