Job Description:

The Associate Engineer manages small capital projects and supports larger initiatives through design, troubleshooting, and process improvements. This role assists with new product introductions, technical support, and training documentation while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across plant operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Project Management

* Responsible for the management, planning through execution, of small capital investment projects. This includes overall control of expenditure within unit & specific project budget. Responsible for capital cash flow forecasting and spending.

* Coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and of engineering projects of the assigned small projects.

* Provides integral communication with the broader team to enable planning, troubleshooting, and execution of assigned initiatives. This includes the preparation and presentation of plans to project stakeholders / Steering Committee depending on the size of each capital initiative.

* Carries out process improvement initiatives. Coordinates the launch of manufacturing upgrades including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results, as well as being responsible for project integration into the plant operation.

* Support new product introductions, line trials, and process validations.

* Assist in larger capital projects (>$75K), including scoping, installation support, validation, SOPs, equipment manuals, and training documentation.

* Reporting to the Project Manager, performs Contractor supervision and management during equipment installation

Operations & Technical Support

* Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment and process issues.

* Collaborate with maintenance and production to improve line efficiency, uptime, and

safety.

* Support root cause analysis, preventive maintenance initiatives, and continuous improvement.

Data Analysis & Process Improvement

* Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

* Participate in Kaizen events, OEE analysis, and line balancing studies.

* Conduct time studies, capability analyses, and process mapping.

Functional Knowledge:

Makes recommendations in the manufacturing processes for improvements. Tests tools, machinery and equipment for recommended improvements.

* Has knowledge of Employee Health & Safety, Environmental, Food Safety and Quality Systems standards (internal, external and governmental). Incorporates this knowledge flawlessly into CAPEX projects. Supports EHS, Environmental and FSQS CAPEX initiatives.

* Supports review of design for compliance with engineering principles, sustainability, ergonomics, internal and external standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

* Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, to resolve project problems.

* Evaluates equipment, building and product design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

* Develops competencies by working within a Lean Manufacturing culture and TPM - Early Management / Initiative & Innovation Management Pillar leadership

Business Expertise:

* Applies engineering principles to support operational improvements.

*Supports plant KPIs like OEE, waste reduction, and compliance.

* May assist in cost estimation or budget tracking for small projects.

Leadership:

* Executes smalls (<$75K) projects end to end.

* Supports projects of all sizes.

* Indirectly impacts plant KPIs like quality, efficiency, and safety.

* Builds technical capabilities and contributes to team goals.

Interpersonal Skills:

* Analyze and Solve Engineering and Production Related Problems including system troubleshooting.

* Make Sound Engineering, schedule, budget, and contractor decisions.

* Be innovative with respect to new equipment, and programming controls.

* Establish project plans with defined scope, costs and timelines.

* Work efficiently to complete projects in a timely fashion.
