THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to help lead our team as a Correctional Industries Manager 1. By overseeing the operations of the garment factories at state correctional institutions (SCI), you will play a vital part in supporting the senior manager. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of non-managerial staff and inmate workers assigned to the correctional industries plants at SCI Dallas, SCI Waymart, SCI Muncy, and SCI Phoenix. Your duties will include assisting in the department's implementation and supervision of production methods and goals. You will also supervise inventory controls, time and production records, cost controls, and the ordering of materials and supplies. Your work will consist of maintaining records and preparing reports on sales, production, operational and staff costs, goals, objectives, and strategic planning. In this role, you may propose increases, product line expansions for existing industries, product improvements, and new industries. Additionally, you will ensure that all staff are kept informed and updated on any operational changes or developments through daily instructions, regular meetings, or written communications.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work Site: Location will be determined from one of the following, based on preference of selected candidate:
    • SCI Dallas - 1000 Follies Road, Dallas, PA 18612 (Luzerne County)
    • SCI Waymart - 11 Fairview Drive, Waymart, PA 18472 (Wayne County)
    • SCI Muncy - 6454 Route 405, Muncy, PA 17756 (Lycoming County)
    • SCI Phoenix - 1200 Mokychic Dr, Collegeville, PA 19426 (Montgomery County)
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Factory Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including two years of supervisory experience; or
  • A Master's Degree with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, or industrial education, or related area and one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, including two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for- year basis to a maximum of four years.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
