About the Job

The University of Minnesota Law School is seeking applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position to teach a clinic in the areas of immigration and human rights. The position will begin in fall 2026.

The faculty member will join the James H. Binger Center for New Americans (BCNA), a comprehensive immigration and human rights law center housed within the University of Minnesota Law Clinics. The BCNA, which opened its doors in 2013, is fully endowed thanks to a $25 million philanthropic donation, the largest in the Law School's history. Its unique collaborative model, designed in partnership with leading local law firms and nonprofit organizations working with immigrant populations, makes the Binger Center a bulwark of immigration advocacy and litigation in Minnesota and around the country. More information about the BCNA can be found at https://law.umn.edu/james-h-binger-center-new-americans.

Minnesota Law's clinical program is one of the oldest, largest, and most innovative in American legal education. The majority of J.D. students take one of approximately 25 clinics across a wide range of topics. Four of these clinics are housed within the BCNA and cover areas such as asylum, detainee rights, federal immigration litigation, and rural immigrant access. Students usually enroll in clinics as 2Ls, and many continue as 3Ls in student director positions that deepen their professional development and provide them opportunities to serve in a "senior associate" role. Nine full-time faculty members work with adjunct instructors, clinical fellows, specialized staff, and student clinic directors to ensure an excellent educational experience for students and the highest level of service for clients. More information about the clinical program can be found at https://law.umn.edu/minnesota-law-clinics.

We strongly encourage applications from people of color, women, individuals with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and people with varied intellectual or methodological approaches. The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity employer.
