Job Summary

The Health & Safety Assistant is responsible for collecting, compiling, organizing and maintaining meticulous records of safety information, obtained from a variety of sources. It requires the ability to analyze data from conceptualization through presentation of the data. Oversee departmental records processes, and ensures records are maintained in compliance with federal and state regulations. Additional responsibilities include oversight of special projects and other reporting functions as needed.


Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares weekly and monthly health & safety reports and presentations
  • Maintains a variety of safety records to ensure compliance with governmental requirements
  • Keeps official safety/human resources records
  • Assist in preparation in information gathering for CEMEX attorney for defense
  • Coordinate DOT DQ files for monthly updates (DOT files are kept in WPB)
  • Collects and analyzes data used for compiling company safety statistics/trends and maintains reports as required. This includes Region & USA Heat Maps and associated reports/data.
  • Maintains accurate records to include Near Miss Hazard Alerts, VFL, SBO, and safety incidents in the company safety reporting software
  • Maintains Drive Cam reports and update drivers' records
  • Coordinates departmental meetings
  • Coordinates health and safety training classes for employees across the US
  • Occasionally conduct safety classes on selected safety essentials for office
  • Participates in safety committees, offering insights and strategies for enhancing workplace safety
  • Coordinate and distribute PPE supplies for new hires and other employees
  • Assist with community involvement initiatives
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management



Qualifications

  • Some knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations preferred
  • Bilingual preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail is essential in addition to multi-tasking ability
  • Good communications skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills


Working Conditions

  • Capability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer Equipment
  • Capable of working in an open office environment


Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
