Overview
The Fish Culture Specialist I is an entry level position that entails the propagation and distribution of cultured fish for the Department of Fish and Wildlife fisheries programs. A Fish Culture Specialist I is responsible for using rearing techniques that maintain the health, development, and distribution of five different species of fish. The Fish Culture Specialist I is also responsible for maintaining the facility grounds and assisting with maintenance of the mechanical aspects of this facility. Who May Apply
This position, Fish Culture Specialist I (Job Requisition #53143), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily at a fish culture station, both indoors and outdoors in all seasons, but with field trips for stocking purposes. A valid Vermont driver's license is required. Consistent with training and experience, incumbents may be solely responsible for operational surveillance on evening or night shifts or on weekends and are subject to call-in at any time due to emergencies, employee absences, or other reasons. Significant physical labor is involved in both fish culture and maintenance activities under varying climatic conditions. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in fish culture or a natural resources field. OR One (1) year or more experience in the propagation and culture of food or game fish. Total Compensation
