In addition to expertise in diagnostic pathology, candidates are expected to educate residents and fellows and develop a successful academic track record. Position Highlights:

Provide patient-centered anatomic pathology services in collaboration with our nationally recognized and diverse team of oncologic physicians at City of Hope National Medical Center and Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles County, Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, and national cancer center sites in Phoenix, Chicago and Atlanta through our digital pathology initiative. This full-time anatomic pathology position reports directly to the Division Chief of Anatomic Pathology and the Chair of the Department of Pathology.

  • Clinical Responsibilities

o Provide diagnostic pathology services to support the clinical care of patients with breast cancer.

o Participate in diagnostic anatomic pathology services within the candidate's additional area(s) of subspecialty expertise, as applicable.

o Collaborate within multidisciplinary disease-focused teams dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and research.

o Support patient care across the City of Hope national network through digital pathology.

  • The Successful Candidate Will

o Join a multidisciplinary team of physicians and scientists in Southern California.

o Use digital pathology to provide breast pathology expertise across the City of Hope national cancer network.

o Contribute additional subspecialty expertise in areas such as gastrointestinal pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, head and neck pathology, or related oncologic pathology disciplines.

o Develop and support translational and clinical research in breast cancer and/or their area of subspecialty expertise.

o Participate in training fellows and residents in our ACGME-accredited programs.

o Contribute to the continued growth and innovation of a nationally recognized academic pathology department.

Position Benefits:

  • Excellent benefits package, including a generous retirement contribution plan.

  • Relocation assistance may be available.
  • Base Salary Range: $310k to $480k. The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an MD or equivalent medical degree and possess or be eligible for an unrestricted California medical license.
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (or equivalent) is required.
  • Fellowship training in breast pathology and experience in the diagnosis of complex breast diseases in an academic cancer center is highly preferred.
  • Additional fellowship training and/or demonstrated expertise in gastrointestinal pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, head and neck pathology, or other oncologic surgical pathology subspecialties is desirable.
  • Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams.
  • Medical licensure in Arizona, Illinois, or Georgia is desirable.
  • Applicants should demonstrate evidence of scholarly activity, including research and publication productivity.
  • Academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level are preferred.
