Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

* Drive the evolution of AFM system control and data acquisition electronics.
* Evaluate alternative design approaches through rigorous analysis, modeling, and testing.
* Contribute to electronics design, prototyping, analysis, and system integration efforts.
* Select optimal electronic components considering functionality, availability, reliability, and cost.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable, serviceable, and testable designs.
* Develop comprehensive test plans and methodologies to objectively verify performance against requirements.
* Design innovative test fixtures to ensure product and manufacturing specification compliance.
* Generate detailed product documentation, including BOMs, fabrication files, and assembly drawings.
* Support product and regulatory compliance testing, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards.
* Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and failure analysis for new and existing product lines.
* Document project decisions and facilitate effective cross-functional communication.
* Serve as a technical liaison with third-party development partners and vendors to uphold quality standards.
* Participate in New Product Introduction, Sustaining Engineering, and Quality Engineering activities.
* Write, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
* Support cross-functional teams and assist with additional duties as needed.

Sustaining Engineering
* Lead and support supply chain improvement initiatives.
* Help production teams achieve on-time shipment and revenue goals.
* Design, develop, test, and qualify product and production enhancements in tooling, fixtures, and documentation.
* Review and approve first article parts for quality assurance.
* Resolve end-of-life issues for "off the shelf" components, sourcing effective alternatives.
* Continually update and improve drawings, documentation, work instructions, BOMs, and routings via ECO processes.
* Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) in managing non-conforming materials.
* Employ corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes to drive product and process improvements.
* Troubleshoot and test electromechanical and electrical assemblies to support production workflows.
* Enhance uptime for production test equipment and tooling.
* Contribute to cost reduction activities, including redesign, insourcing, outsourcing, and resourcing.
* Initiate and contribute to product quality improvement initiatives.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering
* Collaborate with cross-functional NPI teams from concept through volume production and end-of-life phases.
* Promote and apply Design for Excellence (DFx) principles for manufacturing, assembly, test, reliability, and service.
* Provide actionable feedback during design reviews based on DFx best practices and prior project lessons.
* Lead process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (pFMEA) activities.
* Contribute to design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (dFMEA) efforts.
* Deliver manufacturing and quality engineering outputs throughout NPI phases.
* Create and present progress reports, metrics, and impactful presentations for project stakeholders.
* Develop quality inspection plans and first article documentation for new components.



Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience integrating and verifying high-performance analog designs.
* Hands-on expertise in FPGA/microprocessor programming for advanced applications.
* Background in system controls (motion, feedback), data acquisition, and analysis.
* Strong troubleshooting skills at the component level for electronic circuits.
* Demonstrated proficiency in printed circuit board design, analysis, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with OrCAD/Cadence Allegro, Altera/Quartus, and PSpice or comparable software.
* Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Expertise in identifying and qualifying alternate components (PCBAs and electrical assemblies).
* Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
* Experience maintaining and creating bills of material (BOM).
* Skilled in writing Engineering Changes and editing work instructions and routings.
* Ability to prepare and present project updates and reports effectively.
* Self-motivated, strong team player, detail-oriented, organized, and hands-on.
* Willingness to travel (<5%) to vendors and international Bruker sites.
* Strong decision-making abilities and leadership skills to meet challenging deadlines.

Preferred Skills & Experience
* Experience with electronic design for scientific instrumentation, metrology equipment, or similar high-performance products.
* Knowledge of power supply design (switching and linear) and high voltage applications.
* Familiarity with standards such as IPC, ISO, and CE (EMC & Safety).
* Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
* Proficiency in Solidworks or SolidEdge.
* Experience managing third-party contractors.
* Understanding of ISO9001 requirements, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Experience in a low volume, high mix, capital equipment environment encompassing mechanical, electronic, and software elements.
* Exposure to process-oriented business environments.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, OR
* Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with at least 2 years of engineering experience.

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $95,400 and $160,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on

a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position.

Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
