JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant II OPENINGS: 1 LOCATION: Westborough, MA Rate of Pay: $59,571 - $75,000 per year Duties: Perform financial reconciliations and review general ledger transactions for analysis. Work closely with all campuses and component units to ensure system wide accurate and consistent financial reporting. Participate in the system wide accounting period close by preparing and posting all assigned entries, ensuring accurate recording of revenues and expenses in the correct periods, performing accruals and deferrals, and preparing comprehensive working papers and schedules. Reconcile key general ledger accounts, including cash, investments, assets, and liabilities, on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure financial accuracy and integrity. Perform analytical reviews to evaluate operating performance. Conduct quarterly reconciliations of component business units, assess operating results by comparing actuals to budgets and forecasts, analyze variances and trends in general ledger accounts, and ensure effective internal controls. Compile financial data from multiple business units into consolidated financial statements, eliminating intercompany transactions and preparing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with standards, providing a clear and accurate representation of financial performance. Assist with the university's annual financial audits, preparing schedules, footnotes, and consolidating financial data while coordinating with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate audit completion. Assist in the preparation/review of the schedule of expenditures of federal awards and related footnotes. Prepare and assist with annual compliance reporting, ensuring alignment with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and non-profit accounting principles. Support the implementation of new standards or regulatory changes. Develop and document standard operating procedures, regularly review accounting processes to identify inefficiencies or weaknesses, strengthen internal controls, and recommend improvements or automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency. Oversee and reconcile the depreciation, and retirement of fixed assets, ensuring accurate categorization, depreciation schedules, and general ledger entries to provide precise reporting of depreciation expenses and net book value. Telecommuting permitted. Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Staff Accountant-related occupation.
