Senior Platform Engineer (Remote)

The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for design, deployment, and optimization of core systems and processes, including but not limited to; Monitoring, Patching, Knowledge Base Administration, Logging, Change Management and special projects. The Senior Platform Engineer will also participate in projects as a lead engineer and automation resource, building simple OutSystems applications and leveraging Python and PowerShell to simplify repeatable tasks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Slack chats and provide updates and solutions for Internal Infrastructure Projects Team (IIP)
• Day to day maintenance and upkeep on core tooling systems
• Resolve tickets in the IIP Epicor/DBOSS queue
• Document current and new environments in Visio
• Assist with consolidation efforts
• Create knowledge base documents as requested by Platform Engineers and support
• Create and submit requests for change (RFC's) and present to change advisory board (CAB) for approval
• Complete approved change controls
• Own and resolve escalations from Platform team engineers for services
• Provide reporting from various systems
• Help create and maintain team standards, policies, and procedures
• Perform risk management to minimize systems risks and unintended outages
• Manage complex projects and initiatives
• Scope out specific work tasks and work with management and project coordinator to ensure on-time task completion
• Provide regular updates to management regarding status of systems and projects
• Establish reporting baselines that can be communicated to the business around system health and tracking improvements
• Anticipate the needs of the business and proactively update management on opportunities to optimize systems
• Measure performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
• Ability to work with unique personalities in fast paced mission critical company environment
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems

* Working knowledge of database technologies

* Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

* Experience administrating Science Logic Monitoring implementations

* Experience working with Big Fix and other patch management solutions

* Experience working with Change Management processes and methodologies

* Experience creating architecture level documentation in Visio

* Scripting experience

* Technical background in customer support and working understanding of hosting services a plus
