The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, program building, education and research in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

The Pediatric Surgical APN provides care and management for patients on the pediatric surgical service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team with an increased level of accountability.

The Pediatric Surgical APN also serves as clinical leader and educator for both medical and nursing staff, providing mentorship for both in-house resident physicians and RNs.

Primary location will be the Northern Region of the RWJ Barnabas Health System: West Orange, Livingston, Elizabeth and Newark.

Extended coverage to additional hospitals and outpatient clinical sites within the RWJBarnabas Health System will be determined at the discretion of the Medical Director of Pediatric Surgery, RWJBH Northern Region.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Masters degree in Nursing
• Current NJ State license, Registered Professional Nurse
• Current NJ State license, Advance Practice Nurse
• CDS and DEA
• ACLS and PALS certification through the American Heart Association,
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification, acute care preferred

Preferred:

• Three to five years of relevant work experience, preferably as a Pediatric NP,

Scheduling Requirements:

• Monday-Friday: 8am-6pm (flexible 8 hours shift between these hours)
• Weekend and evening on call

Essential Functions:

• Coordinates care for complex, medically fragile patients,
• A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected,
• Outpatient/Clinic responsibilities will also be included within the scope, including complex wound care, post-op follow up, history and physical exam, and surgical consultation,
• Independence with some invasive procedures required-training will be provided,
