About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician to join our MPD Durability Lab team. In this role, you will contribute to and work with Durability Engineers and Reliability Engineers and others in support of durability and reliability and other activities. This is a position in a regulated environment, providing hands-on support within two key areas. The associate may troubleshoot equipment and test methods, perform equipment repair and design and create test fixtures, and/or the associate may design and fabricate models, molds, and/or mock vessels. The associate will be involved with Durability Testing Lab (Lab) and/or Durability Molding Lab (Lab) activities in support of new product development, including forward-looking research and/or assisting with long term device testing. This work may involve contributing to forward-looking advancements in equipment, testing, and/or molding methods. The associate may also work closely with associates and teams across multiple functions. This position will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. Working hours will be Monday-Friday on the day shift.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop an understanding of durability equipment assembly and operation to allow troubleshooting of equipment and test issues
- Assist with durability/fatigue testing activities, including equipment and test solution preparation, test monitoring and data collection, and equipment cleaning and cleaning solution preparation and disposal
- Initiate Lab organization, ensure appropriate Lab supplies and functionality of Lab equipment and fixturing, perform mold and model troubleshooting and repair, and coordinate Lab operations
- Work with internal or external vendors when necessary to have them manufacture tooling or parts, to perform calibrations and/or troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, and maintain equipment records
- Design and fabricate minor fixturing and/or accessories to assist in durability testing and/or generating models from anatomical data for simulated use models, physician training models, mock vessels, and/or PIV models
- Cast and evaluate silicone models and mock vessels and collect data when needed to verify feasibility for use
- Assist in equipment and test method validations
- Openly communicate regarding balancing workload according to project priorities
- Understand and model Gore culture and promoting a safe work environment
- Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position
- Perform additional responsibilities within the scope of this position such as, documentation of procedures, test methods, observations, results, and other records within or outside of the Quality System
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and willingness to work hands-on, including assembling and disassembling equipment parts of up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrated experience with critical/analytical thinking and adaptability to varying day to day evolving situations
- Demonstrated success in identifying and proactively solving problems with appropriate stakeholders
- Consistent record of good attendance, a strong commitment to product quality and supporting Gore's quality system requirements and Culture
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with a wide variety of associates, including engineering technicians, engineers, machine shop associates, facilities associates and leaders
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal as well as written instructions
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage time
- Organized and able to keep track of multiple projects while balancing their priorities
- Ability to show a can-do attitude and be happy to help with a variety of tasks to support the Durability Lab, NPD and R&D projects, with a passion for quality work and a job well done
- Ability to quickly learn new equipment and software
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with SGT, ELF and/or MAPS durability equipment or prior experience with hands-on testing, either acute or long term
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with SolidWorks designing fixtures
- Demonstrated experience with 3D printing
