Description

Position Summary: We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team within the trailer manufacturing industry. This role is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, supporting monthly close activities, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience, including cost accounting, inventory management, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting



  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments during month-end close.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies. Various other plant level reporting items.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Serve as audit liaison for the site with support from the Divisional Controller.
  • Serve as onsite liaison for the Shared Service AR and AP teams.


Cost Accounting / Manufacturing Focus



  • Track, analyze, and report manufacturing costs including material, labor, and overhead.
  • Perform inventory valuation, reconcile physical inventory counts, and support cycle count processes.
  • Partner with operations to understand production variances and cost drivers.
  • Support standard costing updates and margin analysis.
  • Serve as the lead for Invoiced Margin Analysis of completed units.


Financial Reporting & Analysis



  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provide financial insight and reporting to management for decision support.
  • Analyze trends, variances, and profitability by product line or location.


Compliance & Controls



  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Specifically cycle count facilitation and auditing.
  • Support internal and external audits with required documentation and schedules.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to systems, processes, and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain the lot status report for finished goods and bill and hold units.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Divisional Controller.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA-track a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Infor, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. Infor XA experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.


Preferred Experience:



  • Experience in trailer, automotive, heavy equipment, or specialty fabrication manufacturing.
  • Exposure to multi-site or multi-entity environments.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and inventory optimization practices.
