The Position

The Opportunity

The Innovation Finance Chapter partners with R&D leaders to drive value creation from early development to product care. We guide the development of strategic roadmaps, support fact-based decision-making, and promote innovation efficiency and time-to-market initiatives. Our focus is on managing R&D investments, enabling flexible forecasting, and collaborating with Customer Areas (CAs) and stakeholders to ensure sustainable profitability. By optimizing resource allocation across various functions including Research & Development, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Architecture & Software Engineering, Data Analytics and Research, and Portfolio & Project Management, we contribute to the radical simplification of our business operations.

Join our Innovation Finance team as the Innovation Finance Business Partner CDMA, Clinical Operations Chapter Area (COCA) & Infection and Immunity Network (I&I NW) In this crucial role, you will serve as the financial coach and single point of contact for our global COCA Chapter Area , which encompasses over 600+ professionals in the Clinical Operation fields in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. In addition, you will be actively involved in the CDMA I&I NW as the liaison between the business and the function to facilitate clinical evidence generation and medical value creation.

Your mission is to drive value and to shape the future of the COCA & I&I NW and Roche Diagnostics Solutions through transparent financial insights and support. You will balance operational finance activities and strategic initiatives, contributing to the success of the CDMA Function, Disease Area Networks and Customer Areas.

As an independent finance business and sparring partner, you will be embedded within a global finance organization. Your efforts will ensure high-quality Finance Business Partnering, empowering teams with your financial understanding and strategic guidance needed to achieve impactful results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be the single point of contact and financial coach to COCA & I&I NW, providing transparent facts and insights on key business topics to drive value and outcomes through deep understanding of finance and business realities, while serving as a standing member in the global COCA Leadership Team and I&I NW

  • Be an advocate and enabler in function efficiency and productivity initiatives

  • Balance the broad scope of the role, from operational finance activities (i.e. cost center reviews, follow-up on accruals, initiating corrective journals, annual FTE rate planning) to strategic initiatives shaping the future of COCA (i.e. chapter capabilities strategy, outsourcing initiatives, portfolio decision evaluations and trade-offs)

  • Challenge status quo, identify efficiency improvements, drive opportunities to continuously harmonize & simplify finance processes, ensuring consistency across Business Areas while recognizing and adapting to the different needs e.g. related to the cross-Customer Area set-up of the COCA

  • Collaborate and partner across Finance, Business Divisions (Diagnostics and Pharma), Customer Areas (Core Lab, Mol Lab, Path Lab, NPC) and Global Functions such as Procurement, Site Finance, Engineering, Operations and Life Cycle Teams to drive and influence themes like forecasting, priority setting, alignment on resources (internal/ external)

Who You Are

  • Bachelor degree in finance / business administration or related field is required; MA/MBA is a plus

  • Minimum of 7+ years work experience in finance roles with increasing responsibility

  • Proven track record in finance business partnering or controller for global and local organizations and broad Finance knowledge with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills

  • Ability to network throughout a global matrix organization, across sites and time zones, enjoying working with diverse teams, representing various cultural and professional backgrounds

  • Experience in the Healthcare industry, research, development, clinical and/or a related field across geographies, business functions and roles is a plus

  • Curiosity, strong desire to experiment with new ways of working, creative mindset and interest to learn and grow in and beyond Finance

This position is based in Pleasanton, CA and requires a hybrid work schedule.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $112,700 - $209,300.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
