Safety Technician

Location: McIntosh, AL

Contract: 6 months

Pay: $35 hr. to $45 hr.

Primary tasks

Provide direct oversight of contractor safety

Identify safety non-compliances

Identify unsafe work practices or behaviors

Assess risk to evaluate the likelihood and severity of potential hazards, apply Olin control measures

Observe contractors working on site and correct safety non-compliances

Obtain Olin guidance for addressing all moderate and major non-compliances

Document all interactions

Communicate Olin expectations to contractors

Enforce Olin safety requirements

Conduct contractor orientation using Olin-supplied material and resources

Promote a strong safety culture

Communicate concerns and findings to Olin daily

Inspect Safe Work Permits in the field for compliance

Possible additional duties

Inspect life critical safety equipment (SCBA, fire extinguishers, safety showers, etc.)

Calibrate gas meters

Transcribe Safe Work Permit data into a local tracking system

Qualifications

Two years' safety experience

OSHA 30 / (might be referred to as OSHA 510 or OSHA 511)

Microsoft office suite of programs, to include Outlook, Excel, Word, Forms, Teams, etc.

Construction safety experience preferred

CHST or similar certification preferred

Work conditions

80% outdoor work

20% office

Climbing, walking, driving golf carts, riding a bicycle, wearing chemical specific PPE (to include full-face respirator)
