Description:
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Security & Safety Officer to join our school community. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors. You will work closely with school leadership to enforce policies, respond to incidents, and maintain a safe and orderly environment. This includes handling student disruptions, supporting emergency preparedness, and partnering with local authorities when necessary.

Your Role:
As a Security & Safety Officer, you will monitor daily school activity, enforce safety protocols, and support both staff and students in maintaining a safe, respectful learning space. You will patrol school grounds, assist in emergencies, and act as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement when needed.

What You'll Do:

• Support School Safety - Enforce safety and security policies and procedures while maintaining a positive school climate
• Monitor & Patrol - Supervise hallways, classrooms, playgrounds, parking lots, and school surroundings to deter unsafe or disruptive behavior
• Emergency Response - Assist staff in crisis situations, respond to incidents, and work with police, fire, and emergency personnel as needed
• Maintain Order - Assist with student behavior issues, arrival and dismissal, traffic, drills, and after-school events
• Investigate & Report - Document incidents, investigate disruptions, and maintain accurate safety logs and reports
• Ensure Compliance - Follow federal, state, and local safety regulations and mandated reporting duties
• Collaborate - Build strong communication and cooperation with students, staff, families, and community partners
• Professional Growth - Attend meetings, required safety training, and ongoing development sessions
• Support the Team - Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to a safe, team-oriented school culture

What We're Looking For:

• High School Diploma or GED required, associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field highly preferred
• Three (3) years of experience in security or law enforcement
• Certification/training in school security and student rights, or ability to complete within 90 days of hire
• Knowledge of standard security measures, procedures, and best practices
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• Positive, people-oriented attitude with excellent listening skills
• Effective communication and documentation abilities (verbal and written)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings or special events
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license and insurance coverage required
• Must pass all background checks

Day-to-Day Setting:
Work is performed in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and outdoors in all weather conditions, with minimal local travel as needed.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, respond quickly in emergencies, and use physical agility to defend self or detain individuals if necessary. Must also have the ability to lift, hear, and see at levels required to ensure safety. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
