Position Summary

This Asc Technical Lighting Specialist is the entry level position of the Technical Lighting Specialist hierarchy. Employees at this entry level assist with lighting bill exceptions with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental Outdoor Lighting concepts and procedures and assist with any leader TLS assignment. This role is actively involved in record management of agreements between customers and company, including data accuracy support and validity of lighting inventory. This position is also responsible for analyzing and quantifying inefficient processes in the customer information/billing system, work management system, and contract management systems. This position typically is jurisdictionally focused but can be assigned enterprise tasks or assist with team projects.

Responsibilities

Billing Support

  • This position will provide entry level corrections to bills according to tariff and SAP billing structure for Outdoor Lighting.

  • Repair Replacement Billing, BPEMs and other small projects surrounding billing exceptions via spreadsheets, ULAT, SAP and LCR data sets.

  • Communicate with IT necessary for programmatic changes to enhance billing revenue accuracy

  • Process all inventory adjustments as required

  • Analyze detailed revenue reports to determine appropriate revenue recovery efforts

  • Analyze agreements due to expiration, early termination and process accounting/charging request changes

  • Miscellaneous responsibilities that support the lighting business

Work Management Process Support

  • Coordination between IT, PGO and Product Specialists on any work order closing issues and ISU/SAP asset impact

  • Support and resolve any PGO agreement SAP set up issues as well as those that cause BPEMs (Business Process Exception Management) delays in billing

  • Support PGO Design group on all ULAT processes and checklists and their interface with SAP Billing Set Up

  • Analyze and quantify the impact of inefficient processes in the ULAT (Lighting Agreement Tool), SAP Billing Set Up from ULAT and Contract Management Systems

Business and System Oversight

  • Analyze jurisdictional rate accuracy between tariff and ISU/SAP and coordinate with the Rates Group for any corrections

  • Process SAP BPEM exception reports and determine appropriate actions

  • Provide support for lighting and installation audits

Record Management

  • Support record management of agreements and contracts between customers and company

  • Support the digitization of hardcopy documentation and agreements for recordkeeping purposes

  • Ensure data accuracy and validity of data in lighting databases.

Training

  • Support the development of User Guides for system-wide training within various lighting processes and programs for stakeholders

Safety

  • Works safely according to company principles, procedures, and standards.

  • Designs safety into projects by communicating safety specific information.

  • Participates in safety meetings, discussions, presentations, stretching and safety training.

  • Shares near misses and identifies and resolves hazards.

  • Follows Keys to Safe Driving.

Required Basic Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Business Admin or related degree

  • In addition to degree 1 year of related experience.

  • In lieu of degree, Highschool diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience.

Working Conditions

  • Virtual - Work will be performed from a remote location after the onboarding period. However, virtual employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements

  • Working knowledge of SAP basic function, lighting bill structure, the lighting tariff language, compatible unit descriptions/rates and revenue structure of existing lighting products. Excel proficiency with very large data reports.
