Overview

The primary objective of this position is to create, support, and implement training programs that ensure high standards in employee performance, covering areas such as technical skills, environmental awareness, safety, productivity, customer focus, and ethical behavior. This role is crucial to the Company's success by providing a motivated and well-trained workforce to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for developing training materials, including curriculum, instructor guides, student guides, tests, training media, and Digital Learning courses. You will lead the development and review of Digital Learning tools, evaluate trainee performance for qualifications, and ensure that training procedures and equipment are up to date with current technology. Additionally, you will participate in Training Effectiveness Committees (TECs) for assigned disciplines and act as a trusted advisor and liaison to our business partners.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all assigned courses have current learning objectives, course outlines, instructor guides, student manuals, training aids, tests, media and centralized document control. Ensure confidentiality of test results.
  • Conduct training of employees, contractors, and customers in the skills required to perform their jobs.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to ensure alignment of training with operations, including participation in Training Effectiveness Committees (TEC's) and field visits, including participation in special projects.
  • Update and maintain eTrain and Learning Management System (LMS) records. Produce and utilize reports from TLC portal.
  • Evaluate student performance of those being trained, or tested for a position, title change, or advancement in title.
  • Maintain inventory of the materials required to conduct training.
  • Participate in developing and updating of training curriculum for Digital Learning Technology (DLT) team.
  • Stay informed of operating incidents, issues, procedures, lessons learned, etc. Communicate these to the training staff and students, where applicable.
  • Maintain housekeeping responsibility for assigned rooms and areas and ensure compliance requirements are met, as assigned (e.g., fire extinguisher inspections, battery inspections, TLC's Hazardous Energy Control Procedure, etc.).
  • Maintain necessary certificates/licenses and training required to return to the field.
  • Assist employees for possible career development.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the development and administering of testing when required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant work experience in 460 vault construction and troubleshooting. Experience in Installation of Copper and Aluminum Buss for 460V and 208V Networks, or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant work experience in 460 vault construction and troubleshooting. Experience in Installation of Copper and Aluminum Buss for 460V and 208V Networks, or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience in 460 vault construction and troubleshooting. Experience in Installation of Copper and Aluminum Buss for 460V and 208V Networks.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, required.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, required.
  • Demonstrate high energy level, flexibility and the ability handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under tight deadlines, required.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, decision making and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and a solid teamwork orientation, required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and have the ability to deal with all levels of management, regulatory agencies, union personnel and customers, required.
  • Hands-on experience with computer software programs, including Microsoft Office products, required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to incorporate new and innovative technology to enhance process, required.
  • Strong project management skills and familiar with curriculum development, required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Electric Operations, preferred.
  • Experience with eTrain and TLC Portal, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to climb in and out of manholes and excavations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be willing to travel within the Con Ed and/or O&R service territory, as needed.
  • Must be able to participate in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
