Description Offshore Welder Job Details Job Type Full-time Houma, LA Description Offshore Welder Location: Offshore Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Offshore Welder position requires the individual to demonstrate the ability to weld on piping and/or structural components as directed and per Acadian (or customer) welding procedure requirements. The role demands efficient, productive work throughout the day, punctual attendance, and professionalism in all working relationships. The Welder is ultimately responsible for the quality and completeness of their workmanship. Acadian Contractors, Inc. maintains a continuing policy of non-discrimination in employment. Key Responsibilities *\tUse pipe cutting machine, or if unavailable, use beveling machine to cut pipe to the required length. *\tUpon completion of every weld, clean and apply stencil/stamp (3/8" from every weld). Vessel fabrication/welding requires stenciling every three (3) feet of weld length. *\tCommunicate with the helper/rigger regarding necessary materials or equipment for each task. *\tAlign parts using jacks, wedges, drift pins. *\tStraighten warped or bent parts using hand torch, straightening and push/pull methods. *\tEnsure daily submission of accurate oxygen and acetylene bottle counts to offshore management. *\tEnsure all welding activities comply with company policies, class requirements, and regulatory laws. *\tMaintain accurate inventory of consumables to facilitate repair work, modifications, and general fabrication. *\tPerform welding, flame cutting, and associated tasks as required. *\tAssemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, and threading joints. *\tAscend/descend stairwells frequently with or without tools and equipment. *\tPlan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications *\tDemolish and install handrails and grating on platforms. *\tVerify all measurements and check for square and level before welding. *\tHang and swing on vertical ropes to/from platform and boat (potential rough seas/wind). *\tEnsure all fabricated items are tagged with the correct job number, customer name, and piece number. *\tComplete and inspect all weld passes. *\tEnsure 100% penetration on all pipe welds, including hydro-welds; structural welds must follow drawings unless otherwise specified. *\tInspect all equipment (welding machine, leads, flux-core box, grinder, etc.) at the start of every shift. *\tClimb and work from heights as required. *\tOther duties as assigned by the superintendent. Qualifications *\tMinimum of 2 years offshore experience. *\tRecent offshore experience within the last 4 years. *\tMinimum of 2 years experience welding pipe and/or structural on carbon steel. *\tFamiliarity with emergency response/escape and water survival procedures on offshore facilities.
