The LVN Supervisor is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice while providing optimum services to patients, The incumbent provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as a vocational nurse for the department/clinical team to which it is assigned. The LVN Supervisor is supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse when performing duties within the vocational nurse scope of practice. The LVN Supervisor works under the direction of clinic/department management for administrative purposes, including customer service, professional behavior & development, assignment & scheduling of work, and performance of job functions not requiring supervision by an LIP. - Valid California State Board of Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure without restrictions.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
- Must provide proof of valid IV Therapy Certification and must pass the UCDHS IV Therapy verification exam.
- Must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military.
- At least five (5) years of paid work experience as an LVN in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to pass the safe to practice pharmacology exam.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction.
- Demonstrated decision-making skills that reflect the ability to supervise a specified unit of workers. Must be able to represent assigned unit serving as subject matter expert and resource person for the staff.

- Knowledge of health care insurance systems, which may include Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, fee-for-service, county funded coverage, and workers' compensation as related to required job functions for this position, such as coordinating patient care, including but not limited to, ordering diagnostic and ancillary services, coordinate patient prescriptions, authorizations or referrals, coordinate hospital services, coordinate orders for medical supplies/equipment or as needed for billing documentation and may include knowledge sufficient to appoint patients, verify insurance eligibility and identify co-payment/co-insurance requirements.
- Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding sufficient to assist with identifying services performed or coordination of care, for example, office services, home care, hospice care, DME, labs, radiology, and referrals.
- Filing skills to maintain logs and files of information in alphabetical, chronological and/or numerical order, such that it is current and easily retrievable.
- Knowledge of all pertinent laws, regulations, and guidelines governing medical records; confidentiality, privacy, and provision to others, including HIPAA.
- Bookkeeping skills sufficient to maintain accurate records and complete patient financial transactions, balance cash box, and prepare deposits, when duties are required.
