**NO UPHOLSTERY EXPERIENCE NEEDED, BUT IT IS PREFERRED. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.**
Description: The candidate should be able to perform various Upholstery activities like: Remove, install, Rework, Adjust leather or fabric covers on all the different components from the seats/Divans. The experience could be relative from any of the following industries (automotive, furniture or boating etc.).
Upholsterers are responsible for fabricating custom designs made out of fabric and other materials. Work for various industries, such as aircraft production. The work involves cutting, measuring, and sewing. Skilled at reading patterns and working with industrial sewing machines and other equipment such as grommet machines, heat seal machines, and more. It is highly repetitive production work that requires precision and a good eye for detail.
CORE TASKS:
- sewing machine setup (changing thread, bobbins, and needles as needed) needle prepping and joining
- creating and cutting patterns
- inspecting product for defects, damage, or stains
- marking products, work pieces, or equipment with identifying information
- comparing physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards
- Interpreting cover patterns to perform sewing functions
- Cut leather and fabric as needed using patterns
- Prepare sewing pieces for Master Seamstress
- Sew leather and fabric dress coves with very high precision and very high quality expectations
- Operator needs to be able to perform top stitch (single and double) on leather and fabric
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Works from production/assembly instructions, parts lists, wire lists, diagrams, verbal instructions and notes to assemble, wire and install a wide variety of components.
- Identifies and selects components to be integrated into subassembly and assembly units.
- Utilizes small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of one year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
