Position Overview:


The Accounting Manager will help manage the financial and accounting activities, and internal controls for Next Door. Responsible for daily financial and accounting operations, the role includes providing support for the audit, compliance, reporting, analysis, and the fiscal team. The Accounting Manager will act as a crucial ally to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.



FINANCE 30%

Produce accurate financial statements and reports for use in both internal and external compliance and reporting, including for management, committee and board meetings.

Tracking and reporting on the annual operating and programmatic budgets and forecasts, including variance analysis.

Ensure appropriate gift entry, management and reporting in partnership with the Development team.



ACCOUNTING 60%



  • Manage the daily oversight of accounting operations and execute basic accounting procedures for the general ledger, sub ledgers, and reporting systems, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, investments, fixed assets, purchasing, journal entries, grant distributions and vendor payments.
  • Supervise and mentor the fiscal staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Manage the general ledger closings on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, and ensuring accurate financial presentations and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with banking activities and reconciliations.
  • Provide oversight to payroll processing and reporting.
  • Assist in the execution and implementation of technology to streamline processes.



INTERNAL CONTROLS AND COMPLIANCE 10%



  • Monitor internal controls and compliance in regard to accounting and finance policies and procedures.



Accountability and Performance Requirement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Five 5 years of non-profit grant accounting experience.
  • A minimum of two years in a finance leadership role.
  • Ability to process and protect confidential information in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with all stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proven experience in recruitment and development of staff, setting priorities and analyzing data.
  • MIP experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.



Preferences



  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA
  • Experience with grants, gifts, endowments, trusts and donor-advised funds.



Work Requirements



  • Other duties as assigned.



Special Position Requirements



  • The incumbent must have access to a personal vehicle to use on a daily basis, maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance with liability limits of $300,000 (bodily injury) and $25,000 (property damage for each occurrence).
