Who we are

The Johnson Controls' North America Air Handling Unit (AHU) operation designs, builds and distributes a wide range of air handling equipment aimed at enhancing the efficiency and performance of our customers' HVAC systems. Johnson Controls manufactures some of the most elite air handling, variable air volume, and fan coil brands in the industry, including Johnson Controls, York, Frick, AcuAir, Miller-Picking, Solution, Enviro-Tec, Krueger, Titus, and Superior Rex.

The four primary manufacturing sites encompass over 750,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This footprint has led to significant employment growth in York, PA; Largo, FL; Hattiesburg, MS; and Albany, MO, where the workforce now totals approximately 1,100 employees. TheJohnson Controls' Airside Center of Excellence (ACE)is a state-of-the-art facility located in York, Pennsylvania. It serves as a world-class manufacturing, training, and support center for Johnson Controls' industry-leading air handling products.

What you will do

The SIOP Director will lead the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning process for the North America Air Handling business unit Engineering to Order (ETO) business environment. This role is responsible for developing and executing a robust SIOP framework that aligns demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, and financial goals. The Director will collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

How you will do it

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SIOP strategy tailored to the Air Handling business.

  • Align SIOP processes with corporate goals, including revenue growth, margin improvement, and working capital optimization.

  • Lead monthly SIOP cycles, including demand reviews, supply reviews, and executive alignment meetings.

  • Reporting structure to include Materials and Data Analytics roles and responsibilities across the entirety of the NA AHU business landscape.

  • Transform the S&OP, production planning, and material control systems, along with team member skills and performance, to unify the diverse manufacturing plants and processes.

  • This strategic leadership role is focused on building a winning organization that outpaces the competition. Demand Planning

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to generate accurate demand forecasts using historical data, market trends, and customer insights.

  • Drive forecast accuracy improvements through analytics and continuous feedback loops.

Supply & Inventory Planning

  • Partner with Manufacturing and Procurement to ensure supply plans meet demand requirements while optimizing inventory levels.

  • Monitor and manage inventory health, including excess, obsolete, and safety stock levels.

  • Lead product lifecycles from a planning and materials perspective, including new product introduction (NPI) launch readiness, end-of-life phase-outs, and last-time buy management with vendors.

  • Develop and implement a robust "clear-to-build" process using advanced planning tools and strong engagement with the supply base.

Financial Integration

  • Align SIOP outputs with financial planning and budgeting processes.

  • Support scenario planning and risk mitigation strategies to ensure financial targets are met.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Facilitate communication and alignment across departments to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Lead change management initiatives to embed SIOP best practices throughout the organization.

Performance Management

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service levels, and SIOP adherence.

  • Assessment & Design: Evaluate current SIOP maturity and design a roadmap for improvement.

  • Process Implementation: Standardize SIOP processes across business units and regions.

  • Technology Enablement: Leverage digital tools and analytics to enhance visibility and decision-making.

  • Continuous Improvement: Establish feedback loops and governance to refine the process over time.

  • Leadership Engagement: Ensure executive buy-in and alignment through structured reviews and reporting

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain planning, S&OP, operations, or materials control, combined with hands-on operational experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or production environments, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.

  • Proficiency in SIOP tools, ERP/MRP systems, and data visualization tools such as PowerBI

  • Experienced leader of teams with demonstrated success fostering career growth and development. This role supports a ~7 person team.

  • Expertise in defining planning and material control processes for a diverse engineer-to-order (ETO) business model is strongly preferred.

  • Gemba-Oriented Problem Solver: We value individuals who actively seek to understand challenges by going to the source. You demonstrate a hands-on approach to problem-solving by engaging directly with frontline operations, observing processes, asking thoughtful questions, and collaborating with team members at the Gemba. Your ability to connect insights from the shop floor with strategic decision-making drives meaningful improvements in quality, efficiency, and team engagement.

  • Solid presentation skills, including creation of executive-level presentation materials with willingness to present to large meetings of senior-level team members.

  • Ability to manage large, complex projects and provide effective leadership.

  • This role may require travel up to 25% of the time if not based at one of the four primary manufacturing sites. Most travel will be within the United States, with occasional international trips. Travel frequency and duration are designed to support flexibility and maintain a healthy work/life balance while honoring personal commitments.

Preferred:

  • Experience in HVAC or industrial manufacturing is preferred.
