The Product Innovation and Portfolio Project Lead will lead the development and enhancement of innovative products within the Global IML business Unit at MCC. This role requires an hands on strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a passion for driving product innovation from concept to launch. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in the packaging and/or label printing business. This role has both a product/portfolio manager component and an innovation manager aspect and it will be instrumental to support the high growth plans for the Americas region

Responsibilities:

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Help identify emerging trends and customer needs.
  • Analyze competitive products and industry developments to inform product strategies.

Product Development:

  • Optimize the existing portfolio to manage complexity, maximize profitability and ensure business continuity (examples: validation of new materials/suppliers, SKU rationalization, validation of existing products on new production lines)
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development of new products and enhancements to existing products (innovation and business continuity projects). (example: lead project team meetings, follow up on tasks and actions, plan stage gate project review meetings) Oversee the product development lifecycle from ideation to commercialization. Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment on product vision and strategy.

Innovation Strategy:

  • Help developing and executing a forward-thinking innovation plan aligned with the company's growth vision.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and transform insights into actionable projects.

Project Management:

  • Manage resources, timelines, and budgets for their product development projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget following IML's stage gate process

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Prepare for regulatory changes and ensure readiness for compliance with industry standards, in coordination with our central regulatory office.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong technical background in packaging and label printing technologies.

Strategic Vision:

  • Ability to anticipate market trends and consumer needs.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Project Management:

  • Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiar with stage gate processes

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders from different departments.

Leadership and Team Building:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Experience in team management and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Creative Problem-Solving:

  • Ability to think outside the box and encourage innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in the packaging and/or label printing industry.
  • Experience in product and process development within the packaging segment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in the packaging industry.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.
