Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven Systems Engineer I to support the PEO Aviation Engineering and Architecture Office at Redstone Arsenal. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work under the mentorship of senior digital engineering leadership, supporting Army Aviation's transition to a fully integrated digital engineering environment.

The selected candidate will contribute to enterprise efforts in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital thread development, AI/ML integration, and modular open system architectures (MOSA). This role is ideal for an early-career engineer with strong foundational skills and a desire to grow in a high-impact, fast-paced defense acquisition environment.

Responsibilities



  • Support the execution of digital engineering activities across the acquisition lifecycle, including requirements analysis, modeling, and data integration.
  • Assist in applying MBSE tools and methods (e.g., Cameo, SysML) to support program office use cases such as architecture modeling, risk analysis, and traceability.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital threads and digital twins in support of sustainment and system modernization.
  • Leverage AI/ML tools and automation to improve documentation workflows and accelerate the generation of engineering artifacts.
  • Engage with program offices to identify digital engineering capability gaps and recommend solutions aligned with acquisition strategies.
  • Coordinate knowledge-sharing efforts through communities of practice, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Review DoD and Army-level digital engineering policies, contributing to internal assessments and implementation strategies.
  • Participate in industry engagement and tool evaluation to support enterprise engineering and architecture modernization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Exposure to digital engineering or systems engineering practices through internships, coursework, or hands-on experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A current DoD Secret security clearance is required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Enterprise Architect), SysML/UML, or architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF/UAF).
  • Understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and its role in aviation and defense acquisition.
  • Experience with AI/ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
  • Exposure to Army or DoD acquisition programs and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience supporting knowledge management or professional communities in technical domains.
  • Completion of DAU courses such as Digital Engineering for DoD Consumers or Fundamentals of System Acquisition Management.
