Clinical Pharmacist - Needham Pharmacy

Position Summary/Department Summary:
The mission of the Department of Pharmacy is to provide excellent and innovative pharmaceutical care to patients and the community through safe and collaborative practices, incorporating education, research, and technology. We are currently searching for a 40-hour clinical pharmacist to work in our new offsite location at Needham. (Free parking in Waltham and Needham!)

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpreting and evaluating medication orders to ensure drug and dosage are appropriate for patient and to identify possible adverse reactions, contacting physician as needed.
• Checking orders/prescriptions filled by support personnel, verifying products are correctly prepared and labeled.
• Educating and advising physicians, nursing and other personnel on drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, side effects and instructions for administration.
• Conducting nursing in-service education programs and preparing and maintaining drug information materials for assigned unit/clinic.
• Providing patient education.
• Completing medication history documentation.
• Performing quality improvement activities.
• Supervising support personnel within assigned work area and ensures products are prepared and distributed in accordance with established procedures, schedules and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.

Experience:

• Up to one year of postdegree course work and/or an internship and: two to three years general pharmacy experience.
• Previous hospital-based pediatric experience highly preferred
• Prior pediatric pharmacist experience in infusion center or surgical setting highly preferred
• Experience with EPIC not necessary but desirable
• Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, and summarize the information and data to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs
• Interpersonal skills to manage the pharmacy staff members under supervision as well as to interact effectively with prescribers, nursing, and other healthcare personnel within the hospital

Licensure/Certifications:

• Massachusetts pharmacist license, or Massachusetts pharmacy intern license is required. If you hold a valid Massachusetts pharmacy intern license, a Massachusetts pharmacist license must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

Schedule is rotating days/eves/weekends
